Human Dove in Puerto Rico2,000 reasons to feel good about Self Esteem

More than 2,000 girls participated in Self-Esteem Day for Girls in Puerto Rico on November 8. The activity featured Puerto Rican singing sensation Kany Garcia, a DoveReal Beauty Ambassador in Puerto Rico. The Girl Scouts, various municipalities and Unilever de Puerto Rico all joined forces for the cause.

All event attendees dressed in white and gathered to form a “human dove” – a symbol of self-esteem. The dove measured 125 feet by 78 feet and the outline was managed by Puerto Rican artist Gustavo Rodriguez. The event, called “Gracias,” ended with a musical performance by Kany Garcia and generated more than $3,000 in fundraising. Event day, November 8, was declared “Self-Esteem Day” by the governor of Puerto Rico.

This event supports the objective of the 2009 Dove Self-Esteem program, which is to immerse itself in popular local culture and engage celebrities who will act as ambassadors for the Self-Esteem Fund.
