Unilever Caribe S.A. builds its brands in the land of merengue.

Unilever’s history in the Dominican Republic can be traced back to 1972 when the company undertook a licensing agreement with the Sociedad Industrial Dominicana, a local manufacturer, to produce several Unilever products under license. These products included Kinder and Candado soaps. In 1999, Unilever established a legal entity in the Dominican Republic when it acquired the home and personal care manufacturing facilities of Sociedad Industrial Dominicana, which is now known as MercaSID.

A year later, with the merger between Unilever and BestFoods, Knorr Alimenataria, producer of Knorr soups, bouillons and cubes and Maizena, became part of the Unilever family in the Dominican Republic. From this moment and to the present day, Unilever Caribe has been satisfying the needs of over 9 million Dominican consumers as well as over 20 million consumers within its export markets of Jamaica, Haiti and Belize.
